ADS131B26-Q1: ADC that measure a voltage between 0 and 3.3 V

Part Number: ADS131B26-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1256, ADS131M06, ADS131E06

Tool/software:

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

Basically what I'm looking for is a product recommendation, an ADC that measures a voltage between 0 and 3.3 V, that is precise and that has enough sample rate to sample a signal of 50 Hz, leaving a decent amount of samples per cycle of that signal. I need at least 6 channels and I want to sample from them all at the same time while maintaining a decent sample rate. I actually came across this ADC ADS131B26-Q1 but it seems to be intended for automotive battery monitoring. Would it be ok to use for the purpose I'm looking or are there other ADCs intended for measuring mains voltage that would probably do the job better?

I'm using an ADS1256 Precision ADC to sample voltage after a transformer to be able to measure mains voltage at a frequency of 50Hz. Although ADS1256 has a sampling rate of 30k samples/sec, it only achieves that for 1-channel continuous sampling. But I want to measure from 6 channels, for 3 phase AC voltage and current. Therefore I have to be constantly switching channels, dropping the sample rate to around 543 samples/sec. I'm looking to get your expert recommendation on an ADC intended for sampling a signal of a frequency of 50 Hz, providing an adequate number of samples per cycle, or perhaps an ADC intended to sample mains voltage, likely used in grid energy meters.

  • Hi,

could you ask the customer to look at our ADS131M06 or ADS131E06 instead? Those should be suitable for what the customer is looking for.
If the customer wants to discuss further, please ask the customer to post in the e2e forum and we will take it from there.
