ADS1014-Q1: ADS1014 input ripple effect

Part Number: ADS1014-Q1

Tool/software:

We are using ADS1014BQDGSRQ1 now.
Here are our settings: VDD=5V, INP=1.5V~3.6V, INN=GND, FSR=±4.096 V
In this case, the LSB=2mV.
We measured that there is a ripple of about 25mV in INP. Will this have any effect on the LSB and output?
If we want to verify the accuracy of the output, what validations do we need to do? Which of these are for the input?

  • Hi Keke

    What is your signal source for your input? Are you essentially measuring a DC value that's in between these values stated?

    INP=1.5V~3.6V

    The first thing would be to verify that the noise isn't coming from your signal source. If this ripple/level of noise (25mV) is present in your signal source, it will be reflected in the ADC output.

    Is input filtering being used? Are there sources nearby that could introduce noise to the measurements?

    The size of an LSB is determined by the FSR configuration of the ADC:

    So 1 LSB will always be equal to 2mV if the FSR setting selected is +/-4.096V, but there may be fluctuations in the output code due to noise.

    Could you provide more details on your setup and the 'ripple' measurements?

    Best Regards,

    Angel
