SN74LVC1T45-EP Short Circuit Protection

Hi,

We are currently using the SN74LVC1T45-EP (single-bit dual-supply bus transceiver with configurable voltage translation and 3-state outputs) in one of our designs. Was wondering what short circuit protection is implemented for either A or B output ports. Thanks in advance!

Freddy, there is not short circuit protection.

The max current through output must be limited to absolute max limits in the datasheet. The absolute max output current is +/-50ma.

Thanks for your timely feedback. One of our requirements for or design is that the data line must be able to be shorted for 5 seconds without damaging the device. What can you recommend that would fit the bill?

Freddy, it may be possible to place current limiting resistors in the path to guarantee that you will not exceed the absolute max current.
