ADS42B49 inputs

Team,

Question from customer:

Hi - I was wondering if TI has any application data that discusses coupling between transformers on multi-input ADCs.  I have seen notes in the past that discuss keeping the transformers at right angles to each other to avoid magnetic coupling, but on the current design, that is going to be quite difficult due to space constraints.  Wondering if you have any data that quantifies how much coupling is possible with parallel rather than perpendicular alignment of transformer input matching networks?  Trying to decide how worried I should be about this...

  • Hi Aaron,

I don't have any data. They should do their best to maximize distance between transformers and place them at angles. If the spec is particularly tough ( > 80 dB), I would recommend having a placeholder for an RF shield that can separate each of the transformers from each other if possible.
