ADS1226 Self Calibration with AVDD power down

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1226

We wish to operate the ADS1226 converter with constant 2.4 - 3.0Vdc on the DVDD supply, and have the AVDD (5.0Vdc) switched off when the device is put into standby mode between samples.

Will the Self Calibration settings be retained and restored next time the AVDD is powered on.?

Will there be a back feed of the 3V DVDD supply across to the AVDD supply?

  • Steve,

I think that the calibration setting would be retained. Based on the design, there is a power-on-reset (POR) of the device, but it's only triggered when the DVDD supply drops below a specific level. Note that the minimum DVDD is listed as 2.7V and that 2.4V might trigger the POR. Looking at the rest of the design, I don't see anything on the interface between the AVDD and DVDD that would have the AVDD drag down the DVDD when shut down.

However, it would be better to just put the device in shutdown instead. By taking START low and keeping it there, you power down the device and the quiescent current for both AVDD and DVDD drop below 1uA.
