Looking for a dual channel 12-bit ADC with 5V analog inteface and 3.3V digital SPI (or I2C) interface

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC2T45, ADS8361, ADS7861, ADC122S625, ADS7250, ADS7251, ADS7253, ADS7254

Dear Community,

I'm looking for  a dual channel 12-bit ADC (around 200Ksps) with 5V analog interface and 3.3V digital SPI (or I2C) interface

Do you have something?

  • Hi Mario,

    Usually the best place to start is to use the parametric search to find a match you are looking with parameters besides what you have given.  We have several potential SAR devices.  There is the ADS8361, which is 16-bit, and a couple of other devices such as the ADS7861 and the ADC122S625 which would require a level shifter (such as the SN74LVC2T45) on the digital section to drop to 3.3V.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Mario

    In addition to the devices suggested by Bob, you can also look at the following family of devices:

    ADS7250
    ADS7251
    ADS7253
    ADS7254

    All the above devices are dual, simultaneous sampling 12-bit ADCs and most of them have a pin-compatible 14/16 bit versions available for a future requirement. The various devices differ from each other mainly in terms of throughput but they are all higher than 200ksps and support 5V analog supply, 3.3V digital supply with SPI interface.

    Thanks
  • Perfect!
    Thank you guys! that's what I was looking for!

  • Dear Vinay Agarwal,

    I'd like to use the ADS7250 but in a single ended mode with a signal of 5V of swing (AVDD=5V)

    Is it possible?

    Can I, for example, put:

    AVDD=5V

    REFIN_A= 5V

    AINM_A=GND

    AINP_A= my input 0-5V

    and work as Single Ended?

  • Hi Mario

    The ADS7250 can be used for a single ended input but the negative input voltage has to be VREF = 2.5V. If your input signal swing is 0-5V, you can use AVDD = 5V, VREF = 2.5V and AINM = 2.5V.

    Another option is to use the ADS7253 which is a similar device but with higher throughput. For a 0-5V input, you can use this device in the 2xVref range with AVDD = 5V, internal Vref = 2.5V and AINM = 0V.

    Thanks
