Difference in dynamic performance ADC08DL502 vs. ADC08D502 ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC08D502, ADC08DL502

I see the lower power and cheaper "DL" even is specced with a higher analog BW.

The dynamic performance SINAD limit may be 2 dB worse for the "DL", but the higher Analog BW and lower power is more important to me.

So why should i use the non "DL" then?

  • Hi Raymund

The ADC08DL502 is in a different lower cost package than the ADC08D502. For that reason it is operated with reduced bias currents (the external bias resistor is 4.7k ohms instead of 3.3k ohms used on the ADC08D502) to reduce the overall power consumption.

The different bias resistor also causes the ADC08DL502 VINx termination resistances to calibrate to a higher value, approximately 140 ohms instead of 100 ohms for the ADC08D502.

The lower cost package has higher thermal resistance from junction to ambient and junction to board, so the maximum allowed ambient temperature for the ADC08DL502 is +70C, while the ADC08D502 ambient maximum is +85C.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Best regards,
