DAC121C085: Reference Voltage

Guru 20090 points
Part Number: DAC121C085

Hello,

I would like to use DAC12C085 with 2.5V full scale.
Thus, we use 3.3V for Va and 2.5V for Vref.

However in the datasheet P.26 there is the description that  "To use the full dynamic range of the DAC121C085, the supply pin (VA) and VREF can be connected together and share the same supply voltage.".

I couldn't understood this description.
Can we use this device with 2.5V full scale range with 2.5V Vref voltage?

Best Regards,
Ryuji

  • Hello Ryuji,

Using 3.3V for VA and 2.5V for Vref is fine. The recommended operating conditions on page 6 of the datasheet indicate that Vref should be between 1 V and VA. Thus using 3.3V to supply Va and 2.5V to supply Vref would be within theses specifications. The statement you are referring to indicates to use the maximum range of the DAC121C085 Vref should be equal to VA as this is the maximum recommended voltage for Vref and the output range will be zero to Vref. Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
    Garrett
