High-speed DAC 175C selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC7811, DAC8831-EP

Hi,

Three years since this thread was last active, but I also need a DAC to operate at 175C.

I've looked at the high temp products PDF, but frustratingly no suitable products are listed. Is there likely to be any change in the immediate future?

Kind regards,

Peter Close

  • Hi Peter,

Since the original thread was old, and you did not give any specifics of performance required for the high-temp DAC, I've split this to a new thread.  Please provide the requirements for the DAC, and we'll see what devices at high-temp could be applicable.

    Thanks for inquiring on E2E.

  • Hi Leonard,

    Thanks for your reply.

    My brief wishlist is:

    • 175C ambient operation
    • 14 bit resolution
    • 3 Msamples/sec update rate
    • serial interface (SPI or similar)
    • standard SOP/SOIC package preferred
    • digital Vdd 3.3V preferred
    • analogue Vdd - unipolar preferred
    • wideband SFDR better than 70dB for 100kHz output

    Regards,

    Peter

  • Hi Peter,

Using the DAC Selection Tool: www.ti.com/product/DAC8163/compare#p1021=1;1&p596=2;10  , the only >3MSPS HiTemp DAC I see is the DAC7811 http://www.ti.com/product/dac7811 , but it is 12-bits and 125C.

    Even looking at the -EP/Space products, the DAC8831-EP is also 125C, 2MSPS: http://www.ti.com/product/dac8831-ep .

I also looked at the -HT portfolio, some of these devices operate up to 210C, but no DACs in that product line.

I've asked the HiRel group to also look, I'll let you know as soon as I get an answer.

  • Thanks Leonard. I also found plenty of 125C rated DAC parts, but I really need an extreme temp solution.
    I await further news...

  • Hi Peter,

As you determined, we don't have a DAC for -HT to meet your requirements.  Depending on the volumes and the application, there is a possibility the HiRel group might have a device to meet these requirements.  For example, can the sampling rate be > 3MSPS?

If sensitive about the actual application and volumes, please send me a Private message by clicking on my icon, then selecting "connect".
