ADS1148EVM-PDK: BSL failure to load on MMB3

I am having an issue loading the BSL for ADS1148 onto the MMB3 board. Every time I try to connect I get an error such as the one in the picture I have attached. Any help with this issue would be appreciated. FYI, I have installed the latest ADCPRO software and the latest ADS1148 plugin.

Josh,

I believe this is a problem with the TUSB3410 device driver installation. I would go to the following E2E post and see the instructions on that page.

Once you've reloaded the drivers, I think you'll be able to get it running. However, if you continue to have problems, I'll need to know What version of Windows you are running.

The TUSB3410 driver is installed correctly and is showing up as com3 in my device manager.

When I check the error log I get an error code of 1073807339.

I am running windows 10 but am running the ADCP pro program in compatibility mode for windows XPSP3

Josh,

I would note that ADCPro was designed to work with Windows 7 and earlier operating systems. Running the program in compatibility mode won't help this problem.

However, people have gotten ADCPro to work with Windows 10. I still believe the problem is the driver for the TUSB3410. At this point, I believe that the drivers that were loaded are not compatible with Windows 10. You'll still need to completely disconnect the EVM and uninstall the TUSB3410 drivers on your computer and find the correct drivers for Windows 10. Go to this E2E post and scroll through the pages to find how to unload the drivers and load the new ones.

On Windows 10, you may also need to disable the driver signature enforcement before trying to install the driver. Here is a link that explains how this may be done.

The TUSB3410 driver I have is the latest one. Also the driver signing is fine with this lastest driver. The issue from above still persists though.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what else I can offer on this issue. ADCPro development ended years ago and instead of keeping up with this ADCPro, we've moved on to another platform.

Additionally, we don't have the ability to test compatibility issues with Windows 10 because all of our machines run Windows 7. My best advice would be to get a Windows 7 or XP machine to run the EVM.

Can you suggest a more up to date development platform that I can use instead of the MMB3, ADS1148, and ADCpro? I need a development platform that can take at least two analog inputs and convert them into two digital signals.

Btw, I installed the software on a windows XP machine with the updated drivers and I am still getting the same issues.

Hi Josh,

As it is inconclusive if there is a driver issue between the latest driver and ADCPro, you should not use the latest driver, but rather the driver that comes with the plugin. I know we have had problems in the past with communication relative to the driver.

You could also try this driver which I think was specific to XP:

Ok, so I completely uninstalled the ADCpro software off the xp machine and reloaded it. Using the above driver link I installed the TUSB driver and still had issues. I then updated the TUSB driver from the plugin for ads1148 (both came with my installation CD). Still didn't work. I then updated the ADCpro version and loaded the updated ADS1148 plugin and that still didn't work. Could it be that this board is faulty or perhaps there is an issue with the VISA connection or the LabView code used for this plugin? Also, just to confirm, the cable used to connect the MMB3 board to my computer would not effect the communication between devices, correct? It is a USB B-type to USB a-type cable.

Josh,

First, lets just start from scratch and unload everything from your machine. Where did you get the EVM? Was the version of ADCPro downloaded off of the installation CD? CDs haven't been shipped with EVMs for quite a while is almost definitely an old version. That being said, it should have worked with an XP machine.

Regardless, lets just start over:

Start with the board unplugged and download and install this software:
ftp.ti.com/.../adcpro-wlvrt-2.0.1.exe

Install the current plugin which should have a good TUSB3410 driver:
ftp.ti.com/.../ads1248-adcproplugin-2.0.0.exe

Make sure that the EVM has BSL switch in the off position. Now you can plug in the EVM.

In Device Manager make sure that the TUSB3410 Device comes up in Ports as a COM port.

Start ADCPro.

Start the ADS1148 plug in.

If any of these steps gives an error get a screen shot of the error. Also, find the log file and attach it to the next post.

I accidentally grabbed the link for the ADS1248 plugin. Here is the link for the ADS1148 plugin.

If you've installed the 1248 plugin, it's fine, just use the ADS1148 plugin.
