ADS9120EVM-PDK: Continuous Data Recording with ADS9120EVM-PDK Evaluation Module and the provided software?

Part Number: ADS9120EVM-PDK

Hello,

Is it possible to use the ADS9120EVM-PDK Evaluation Module together with the provided software ( ADS9120EVM-PDK GUI (Rev. A) ) to perform a continuous recording to a file of a couple of seconds length at full 2.5MSps rate ? I have already downloaded and tried the software, and in the menu there is an option called "continuous capture", but since I didn't buy the Evaluation Module yet I can't try it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sincerely,

Marcel

  • Marcel,

The time length of a recording, or “Capture”, is a function of the sampling frequency and the number of samples selected by the user in the GUI: upon connecting to hardware, the EVM software allows users to choose the number of samples to be taken during each capture.

Enabling “Continuous Capture” results in the software measuring the set number of samples, displaying them, and repeating. Each new display of data, however, is continuously written over the previous set until the capture is manually stopped as shown in the following image.

When the desired data is displayed, it can be exported to a spreadsheet or image by right-clicking on the chart and selecting “Export >”.

In short, the answer to your question depends because the largest "Samples" option will limit the time to < 3 seconds per capture at a full 2.5 Msps. Hopefully these details help you get the most out of testing with this EVM and its software. Feel free to follow up with comments or additional questions.

    Regards,

    Manuel Chavez
