ADS7959: ADS7959 SDO output with a long cable

Part Number: ADS7959

Hi teams

My customer used ADS7959 and output the SDO signal through a 50 cm cable to the control board. The sample frequency is 8Mhz.

They found that the rising edge delay time became much larger with this cable. It seems the parasite capacitance is too large.

I wondering to know do we have any method to enhance the SDO interface driver capacity?

Could we enhance the driver capacity through buffer? Which parameter should be paid attention to about the buffer?

Thanks in advance.

  • Dear Gabriel,

Yes, you will have to use a buffer to enhance the drive capacity of the SDO output of the ADC.

The propagation delay and the drive strength of the buffer would be the key parameters to consider. Also proper impedance matching between the buffer and the cable; as well as cable and the receiving buffer at the other end will ensure that reflections are kept to a minimum.

    Regards,
