Our customer uses TCS2046E for their design.

They faced problem at the ESD testing.

When +8kV (Air) ESD at touch panel, then the response from controller was not been observed.

I attached file.

As mentioned in the file, TPSI was not observed.

The customer has to take countermeasure.
Can you suppose what is happen inside device?
Could you please tell us your view?

Hi

We could see improvement by adding 0.1uF at Vref pin.

If you could see problem with this countermeasure, please tell us.

We are looking at this issue. This will require us to dig into the archived design database of the TSC2046 and pull up older ESD testing results. Thanks for your patience.

Hello,

Devices of similar release dates had HBM ESD ratings of 2kV or less. It is very unlikely that the device will survive a direct 8kV strike. You will need to implement external ESD protection if you believe it will frequently be exposed directly to HV ESD strikes.

The TSC2046EVM has a 10uF capacitor on the VREF pin so an additional 0.1uF will not cause any issues.
