AFE5801 - Recommended clocking

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE62005, AFE5801, CDCE62002, LMK03002, LMX2571

Hello TI Team,

Can you recommend me a clocking solution for AFE5801 ? I would like to have a programmable clock. I have seen the user guide of AFE5801 and notice that you are using CDCE62005. I see many of the outputs of CDCE62005 are not used. Do you have an suggestions for a smaller and simpler part?

Looking forward to your reply

Thanks

Nikhil

  • Hello Nikhil,

Do you have any restrictions on your input frequency? What is the range of clock frequencies you are wanting to provide? Are there any other clocks needed in the system, what are those clock frequencies?
    * You might try using the clock architect tool to find possible devices/frequency plans. (ti.com/clockarchitect)

There is a CDCE62002 which may also work for you (2 differential outputs) and an LMK03002 (four differential LVPECL outputs)

You might try LMX2571, it would be able to provide up to 2 single ended outputs. Single ended input in supported by the AFE5801.

  • Hello Timothy,

I would like to provide frequencies between 10MHz and 40MHz. I have to only provide clock to AFE5801 in my system. I will look into the suggested part.

    Thanks

  • Ok great, let me know if you have any other questions.
