DAC8218: Output capacity load

Part Number: DAC8218

Hi team,

My customer connect the cap and resistor in the output of the DAC8218.

But if the cap is about nF, the output has long rising edge and 100kHz ripple and the overshoot.

1. So does the nF cap is too large for the DAC8218, so cause the issue?

2. What's the maximum cap load of the DAC8218?

3. What's the recommend cap and resistor value for the DAC8218?

Lacey

Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Lacey,

Thank you for your query. The maximum capacitive load prescribed for this device is 500pF. With a series isolation resistor, this value can be increased. However, we don't have any test data for that. You may need to try out different values for getting the desired performance. If the system level constraints permit, a buffer at the DAC output is a good idea.
