ADS1299: ADS1299-4 vs ADS1299-8

Part Number: ADS1299

Hi Ti Experts,

We have a project which used to leverage ADS1299-8 for data acquisition. Due to change in technical requirement , we decided to migrate it to ADS1299-4 instead. Apart from the difference in number of available adc channels between the two parts, is there any other differences? We tried to plug in ADS1299-4 on our development board which used to house ADS1299-8, we noticed that the firmware driver we developed for ADS1299-8 doesn't work on ADS1299-4. As far as we know, both chipset are protocol compatible, thus firmware should be compatible as well.

Best regards,

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

    Thanks for your post!

You are correct that the only difference is the number of ADC channels. However, if you look at table 11 in the datasheet, register assignments, below the table you will see that the extra ADC channel registers should be set to 00h in the ADS1299-4. If you did not change the firmware at all between swaps, this could explain the issue.
