ADS8505: Drop in Replacement for ADS8505IDB

Part Number: ADS8505
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8681

Does TI suggest ADS8505IBDB as the best replacement for ADS8505IDB? If not what is the best suggested replacement?
Could you please list the biggest differences between the ADS8505IDB and it's suggested replacement?
Thank you.

  • Hi Mark,

The difference between ADS8505IB(DB) and ADS8505I(DB) is the performance, please refer to the Electrical Characteristics table from page 2 to page 4 in ADS8505 datasheet. I think the "best" you are talking about are the function and performance. The new generation SAR ADC to support +/-10V bipolar input is ADS8681 family, ADS8681 supports 9 bipolar or unipolar input ranges including +/-10V with single +5V power supply. Also, ADS8681 has better performance with integrated analog front-end(AFE), analog filter and ADC driver, hence it does not require external high bandwidth amplifier to drive the ADC like ADS8505. Please refer to the ADS8681 datasheet.

    Thanks&regards
