DAC9881EVM-PDK: Is this device and its associated software compatible with Windows 10?

Part Number: DAC9881EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DXP, ADCPRO, DAC9881

SLAU279A–March 2009–Revised November 2009 says "Install DXP on a laptop or personal computer running Windows XP".   Haven't had one of those in quite a while!

Some forum entries talk about inability to install necessary drivers, but claim earlier drivers (may) install if mandatory driver signing is turned off in Windows 10.  I don't know if this is still relevant.

Other posts talk about a pair of .exe-s that may fix things up.

What is the current state of using this software under Windows 10?

  • Hi George,

Let me check with a few key engineers for clarification and I will get back to you.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hello George,

Yes - DXP and it's counterpart ADCPro are aging tools at this point which are mostly paired with some of our older devices, many of which have either been refreshed in our portfolio or will soon be. That is not yet the case for the DAC9881, of course.

Not much changed in terms of the functionality of the drivers across more modern Windows operating systems including Windows 7 and Windows 10. That is to say, the drivers work on those platforms, but the challenge is more the permutations of Windows permissions and the deployment of laptops from various company IT departments. So in part what you have eluded to is true, through to some extent it is possible that the installation scripts themselves are outdated such that they may not correctly navigate the Windows filesystem.

There are a few alternate installers I can share with you if you want to take this to PM or email and share the files via Box or other file sharing systems.
