AMC7834EVM: Confirm if it is okay to use AMC7834EVM without SDM-USB-DIG board

Part Number: AMC7834EVM

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to confirm if it is okay to use AMC7834EVM  and external power supply (24V) without plugging in the SDM-USB-DIG board?

Will AMC7834EVM  still work? In this set up using only AMC7834EVM  and external power supply, the customer is not getting D2 or D3 LEDs indicating 5v power and no reading in EN pin.

Please let me know your inputs.

Thanks,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

You can, but you must ensure that VDUT is still being supplied.  When we created the board, we felt that if a customer was using an external digital controller, they would not be using the onboard power.

The LDOs are not enabled until VDUT (SDM-USB-DIG's 3.3V supply) is enabled.  This can be simply resolved by connecting VDUT to IOVDD and connecting IOVDD to some external 3.3V (or IO voltage).

    Thanks,

    Paul
