DAC70501: Could SLAU525 possible to be applied to DAC70501

Part Number: DAC70501
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC8560

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering DAC70501 for +/-10V output.

They're thinking about using SLAU525 reference design.

The voltage reference of DAC8560 and DAC70501 are slightly different.

Does the DAC70501 reference voltage output(internal 2.5V)  need additional buffer?

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi,

The reference has the capability of sourcing ±5mA and 90µV/mA load compliance, so you will just need make sure your resistor values are large enough not to skew the reference voltage.

You will also need to make sure your DAC output is in the same 2.5V range.

Otherwise, this is a great use of the DACx0501 family.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I understand SLAU525 could use for DAC70501.

At that time, it may be large resistor value.

If possible, could you please let me know a rough indication.

I apprecoate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi

  • Hi,

Since DAC70501 has drive capability of 5mA, I suggest values greater than 10K for RG2.

Worst case will be reference driving this 10K resistor when the DAC code is at 0V. So current drawn will be approx 2.5V/10K = 250uA which will not skew the reference voltage in anyway.

    Regards,

    AK

  • Hi AK,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand RG2 should be larger than 10kohm.

I'll share this information with the customer.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
