get informations about designing Multi-parameter patient monitor system analog front end

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1293EVM, EK-TM4C123GXL, LMT70EVM

Good morning,

I am currently an undergraduate student at the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece performing my dissertation thesis in the field of biomedicine. For this purpose, my colleagues and I, would like to develop a system of wearable sensors that will enable the continuous monitoring of vital biomedical parameters such as the body temperature, the blood pressure, the saturation of oxygen in blood, the hearth rhythm, as well as the electrocardiogram.

Based on past projects, I have in my disposal the products, but I do not know for sure if this is the appropriate  for the conduction of the system as described above. To a greater level of detail, I have already the following products:

  • ADS1293EVM
  • TIVATM C SERIES TM4C123G LaunchPad Evaluation Kit EK-TM4C123GXL
  • LMT70EVM (Temperature Sensor)

Through my navigation to your site of TEXAS INSTRUMENTS and having previously looked into various scientific papers, I did not manage to find exactly the appropriate equipment that I will need to fulfil my thesis. However, as I was looking into a technical document provided by your company named ‘’ MEDICAL APPLICATION GUIDESLYB108h’’ -, I noticed-in page 12 out of the 151- that there was a reference in an “Analog Front End” as indicated in the picture attached:

For this reason, as I have not yet managed to find an Analog Front End that it will be able to perform and support all the relevant functions and measurements at the same time, I would like your valuable guidance in terms of providing me the most appropriate Analog  Front End that it will be able to support and monitor the required biomedical parameters that I have previously described(body temperature, the blood pressure, the saturation of oxygen in blood and ECG).

  • Hi Sotirios,

Welcome to the E2E forum !!!

Thank you for your interest in selecting the TI biosensing AFE for your study. You are looking into the right AFEs for your project by using the Medical Application Guide. We currently do not have a single AFE capable of getting all the biomedical parameters you have listed. Please see the Biosensing AFE link below for the most updated AFEs capable of the Electrocardiography (ECG) and Photoplethysmography (PPG) functionality.

There are also references to what devices can be used for blood pressure monitoring on page 9 in the application guide. Please refer to the Temperature Sensors link below for more information on the temperature sensing device portfolio. You can find many valuable materials in the link that can guide you for the body temperature measurement.

I hope this helps with your system design

    Thanks
