DAC37J82EVM: TSW14J56EVM, DAC37J82EVM Programming

Part Number: DAC37J82EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC37J82

Please pardon my ignorance! I would like to generate a ~375MHz tone out the DAC. It seems that the Quick Start files are limited to ~200MHz. Is there an easy  way to generate and program the files necessary for the 375MHz tone? I looked through the documentation, but couldn't find anything.

  • Hello,

Since you are using HSDCPRO pattern generator with the TSW14J56 and DAC37J82, you may use the I/Q tone generator function to generate the tone

. see section 3.8 for detail.

With wide enough data rate (i.e. 1GSPS or so with 2x interpolation), you can generate up to 1000MHz*0.4 (First stage interpolation filter roll-off) bandwidth.

or you may use some lower frequency tone (i.e 20MHz) with the NCO on the DAC to generate the 375MHz. The NCO can be, for example, programmed as 375-20MHz = 355Mhz.

  • Per your response I figured it out!

    DAC Settings:

    DAC Input Data Rate: 1228.8

    # of SerDes Lanes: 4

    Interpolation: 1

    HS Pro Settings:

    Config File: DAC3XJ82_LMF_421

    Data Rate: 1.2288G

    Thx!
