ADS124S08EVM: Multi-channel Sequential Read ADS124S08

Part Number: ADS124S08EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS124S08, ADS1261EVM, , ADS1261

Hi Experts,

Do we have a way to read 4 bridge sensors with ADS124S08 continuously one sensor after another in a loop?

Is there a pre-existing script or example code that allows that?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Connie

  • Hi Connie,

The ADS124S08EVM is not setup for using multiple bridge sensors as inputs.  The EVM was designed to show a variety of different types of sensor inputs to include thermocouple, RTD, voltage and current measurement in addition to a single input used for bridge measurements.  So some hardware modifications would need to be made to the EVM to accomplish connecting 4 bridge sensors.  The ADS124S08EVM is not setup for this many bridge sensors, but the device itself can certainly accomplish the task.  The ADS1261EVM might be better suited in connecting 4 bridge sensors to the EVM.

As far as a script to take the measurements, this could be developed but unfortunately this can not be run in a continuous loop and the results would have to be captured after each bridge was measured.  This would be true for the ADS1261EVM as well.

There is example code for both the ADS124S08 and the ADS1261 available on the device landing pages, but this code will be generic and would not include a procedure to make the four measurements separately.  Within the main polling loop you would need to add a mux change for each input setting.
