ADS1293EVM: 8-lead ECG application for ADS1293 EVM implement

Part Number: ADS1293EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1293, ADS1298

Hi

We have a new project for ECG application for 8-lead.

ADS1293 spec mention two AFE connection in series for 8-lead ECG application.

How could I verify two AFE connection in series from ADS1293 EVM ?

I have two ADS1293 EVM on hand , but It seems ADS1293 EVM UI only support 3 channel form one AFE.

  • Hi Wei Ken,

Yes, the current ADS1293 software GUI only supports one device in the EVM hardware which enables either 3-Lead or 5-Lead ECG application. You will need 3 ADS1293 to be able to do an 8-Lead ECG application (see Figure 88 in the datasheet).

Can you please clarify what you are referring to in the datasheet regarding AFE connection in series?

Please take a look at our ECG device portfolio at TI.com. For 8-Lead or 12-Lead ECG application, you will be able to achieve the application with single ADS1298 instead of using multiple ADS1293.

    Thanks.

  • Hello

We used ADS1293 for 5-lead ECG solution to pass 60601-47 ECG standard test in previous project already.

So we prefer new project for 9-lead ECG application base on ADS1293 solution.

We evaluate ADS1298 is not suitable because of its power consumption is not better than ADS1293.

Our new ECG application only use 3 V-lead + I II III , so can I only use Two ADS1293 AFE in series ?

Please refer block diagram as below :  Is it workable architecture ?

  • Hi Wei Ken,

Thank you for the clarification for choosing the ADS1293 in your project. It is sufficient to use 2 ADS1293 AFE for your ECG application which uses 3V-Lead and Lead I, II, and III. Your implementation diagram looks fine.

    Thanks.
