HDMI Audio to I2S

Looking for a solution to convert the AUDIO signal carried by HDMI (output from a BluRay for example) to I2S to pass to a DAC chip. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products.

    I believe HDMI transmits audio in S/PDIF format. If this is the case, then perhaps something like the DIR9001 could do the trick?

    Sorry, I am not very familiar with HDMI, we don't have any solutions in the audio group that directly interface to HDMI.

    HDMI Receiver IC's will typically convert the embedded audio stream (usually encapsulated in IEC 60958 format). Most HDMI decoders will stream this content out as S/PDIF that can be converted to I2S using a DIR9001 or DIX4192.

    TI does not make HDMI reciever IC's that does that initial conversion.

    Thank you both for your feedback.

    I'd rather not convert to S/PDIF then I2S, if I can help it. I suppose I'm on the hunt elsewhere for an HDMI Receiver / Decoder.

    The content over HDMI is traditionally very jittery, as Audio doesn't fit nicely into the video clocking structure.
    Other customers have had a lot of success using the "jitter cleaning" effects of a S/PDIF reciever to even out the jitter, therefor lowering THD in the following DAC.
