CCS/MSP432P401R: UART Serial Monitor not working in CCS Cloud

When using Energia within CCS Cloud, the UART Serial Monitor doesn't seem to be working.

We used the ASCIITable example on both Energia and CCS Cloud.

The UART Serial Monitor works in Energia but not in CCS Cloud.

Jason,

What is the issue that you are seeing? Is it not showing data or not building or doing something unexpected?

For me if I select this board it will not build:

If I select this board it builds fine:

After that I click on the debug button

That starts the debugger and the program will run to the start of setup()

I then go to the Target menu and select Connect COM Port

I select the appropriate port and baud rate. This capture is from my Mac so the port looks funny. I did the same thing on my Windows machine as well.

I then click the green arrow button on the right to run the program

After that I see data in the debug tab at the bottom.

I have tested it on both Windows and Mac and it runs fine. If the issue that you are seeing is that there is no data then try the other Texas Instruments COM port in the list. There will be 2 listed. For me the first TI one in the list was the correct one on Windows and on Mac it was the second one.

I do not see an example called UART Serial Monitor.

Hi John,

The instructions you describe are exactly what I did and it didn't work, but this morning I received an alert that I needed to install a newer version of Cloud Agent. Once I did this it worked right away, do you know when that update was pushed out? I'm just wondering how long I've been using the old Cloud Agent.

I believe there was an update yesterday as it prompted me to install a new version when I tried today.

...

I just walked over and asked the cloud agent guys and the release yesterday did fix a COM/UART issue. So your guess that the updated agent fixed the issue is correct.

Hi John,

I got my PC working, but the professor's Mac still isn't working and he isn't doing anything different.

I've attached a snippet of the OS he's running, what can we do now?

On my Mac I ended up using Chrome. On Safari I could not get the cloud agent to be recognized properly.

Hi John,

He's also using Chrome, but it doesn't work for him. Do we need to set up a WebEx so you can can check out this setup? Any other ideas?

How far is he getting? My issue on Safari was with installing the cloud agent, which happens on debug launch. If he is getting past that then the issue is different. Is he able to start the debugger but just not getting data in the console?

I don't have that board with me today but I could likely do a webex tomorrow.

I think he has the program running but just doesn't get data in the console. I've attached a screenshot he sent me. What times tomorrow would work for a Webex?
