DLPDLCR471TPEVM: Request 654819

Part Number: DLPDLCR471TPEVM

Good morning

Customer is claiming, that the delivered part is defective as follows:

Part is not working (not turning on) when connected to power supply

      MeanWell GST90A19-P1M.

Connection has been done by following the datasheet information on page 8

      here:

      www.ti.com/.../dlpu105.pdf

      s%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Ftool%252FDLPDLCR471TPEVM

Per customer, they have tested 2 power supplies and they are sure, that  the issue is with the part itself. Power supplies are working when they

are used to power other devices.

Could you please advise if customer can perform some other test or if the part is fail?

  • Hello User,

I understand this is frustrating. If the board is truly defective out of the box they are likely eligible to have it replaced.

I have one suggestion. I notice a blue LED on the power supply appears to be lit, but D3 (which indicates 19V is connected) on the EVM is not.

Can you ask them to probe "TP10" near the barrel connector and see if 19V is present?

Also ensure that SW1 is in the off position before power is applied, and then switch it once the board is powered.

Has this board ever displayed an image?

    Best regards,

    Arthur

  • Hi Artur

The customer come back and say:

    "thank you for your suggestions.

          The power up procedure is

          1) SW1 OFF

          2) Connect power adapter

          3) SW1 ON

After connecting power supply to the 1st module (not good, Mouser) - the

D3 LED is NOT lit, and the TP10 voltage is zero volts, POWGOOD and POSENSE

are not lit, cooling fans are not spinning.

In the meantime I bought a second module straight from Texas instruments

website, so that I can compare the OK and NG products one to one.

Using the same power supply to power up the 1st (NG, Mouser) and the 2nd

          (OK, Ti e-shop).

The power supply works good with the 2nd (OK) module. I did confirm, with

the OK module, that I follow the instructions correctly and I am able to

use the second product. The D3 LED IS lit, and the TP10 voltage is 19

volts, also the POWGOOD and POSENSE LEDs are lit and cooling fans are

spinning, with the 2nd evaluation module.

It seems that the board is fail, is this correct?

    Thank you

  • I am not sure that this board is damaged completely. because the power supply is known good, but there is no voltage at TP10. I suspect that the 5A fuse 'F1' near the barrel jack connector could be blown. Can you test the resistance of the fuse 'F1' it may have been blown somehow. If it is damaged you can replace it from mouser Part number 0437005.WR $1.35 each.

    Regards,

    Arthur
