KP-3P-DLP4500EVM: My EVM cannot boot

Dear Sir or Madam,

I purchased a DLP4500EVM projector in Oct via Ti's agent Digi-Key . However, in this week, when I try to project my patterns, I found the EVM cannot boot any more. Normally, when I turn on the module, two green LEDs flash on. I figure the problem is related to I/O or power supply.

I cannot determine what's actually the problem. Nevertheless, I'd like to know whether Ti can replace or repair the module? I am in need of the projector.

Hi Xian,

Please confirm mu understanding of your description it seems like the EVM was working when purchased but later due to some issue it is not booting up.

Could you please verify whether the board is receiving 12V properly and also ensure that the chip is not getting heated up jus in case if he chip got damaged.

Hello Akhil,

Thanks for your feedback. The 12V power supply works because I see the fan is rotating. The chip looks good w/o over heated. However, I can't test every chip since I know little of electrics.

Hello Xian,

Please refer to the quick start section of the user guide (Page 20). Please let us know if LED are behaving as described> please verify that it is not shutting down after turning on briefly.

Hello Vivek,

I tried as per the user guide. Unfortunately, the LED didn't light on green, instead it lighted orange. Besides, the fan rotates all the time w/o stop.

If you need more information, pls tell me.

Hi Xian,

Could you please confirm that the jumpers J18 and J23 are not connected on the board.

Hello Zhou,

It is very difficult to remotely resolve this hardware issue.

The TI warranty for the EVM is 90 days. If this EVM is under warranty, please contact the selling organization for RMA. You can use this E2E discussion as authorization for RMA provided it is with in 90 days from date form purchase.

Sorry for the late response. I checked the purchasing date, actually it is a little bit longer than 90 days. In this case, what can I do? I am surely unable to repair the module.

Unfortunately, the RMA process of the EVMs is applicable only within the warranty period.
