DLPC410: Red D2 LED appearing on startup

Part Number: DLPC410

Hello,

Upon startup the D2 LED is red and remains red unless I connect the board via usb to the Discovery 4100 GUI and wait for the D4100_GUI_FPGA.bin to programmed at which point D2 turns off and D16 turns green. As user "Fizix" mentioned in a previous post, I believe something has corrupted the PROM file or somehow the PROM is damaged. I was wondering if someone could recommend some steps I could take to determine which of these two situations is more likely and what I might do to move forward.

Thank You

  • Hello Melvin,

Do you have access to a Xilinx USB-JTAG Platform cable?  If you do, you will need to download from Xilinx the free Impact tool.  If so, then connect it to the JTAG header on the board and see if you can read out the contents of the APPS_FPGA PROM and save it to a file.  If it is unable to read the contents, that would be a good indicator that the PROM is corrupted or possibly damaged.

The fact that it runs after loading the bin D4100 _GUI_FPGA.bin indicates that the FPGA itself is working correctly.

Did you purchase this board recently?

  • I have access to a Digilent HS2 USB-JTAG cable but thats running into its own set of issues. Seems that it is no longer able to initialize or even recognize the chain. I hope this is just a cable issue and will have it sorted soon.

The board was bought some time ago and was worked on by a colleague last year. It was working correctly at that point. Now that I am trying to reinitialize all of his work is where I am running into issues.

What can be done to resolve a corrupted PROM?

  • Melvin,

Let me send you a friendvite so we can discuss this.
