DLPC3435: How to program SPI flash on custom board

Hi there I have a custom board with the dlpc3435, dlp2010 and the DLPA2005. I've downloaded the firmware image using the TI DLP® Pico Firmware Selector tool. My original plan was to use my segger j-link and the j-flash SPI utility to load the binary into address 0x0, however the utility only accepts .bin, .hex, .mot or .srec. How should I proceed?

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology!

In your custom board design, Is there no I2C lines exposed ?? Please refer to the Programmer's Guide to program the controller using I2C commands

Hi Akhil,

Yes i2c is exposed, but I'm trying to update the firmware in the SPI flash. The board uses an alternative DMD pin mapping (option 3) and I believe I can only change this my but updating the firmware image in flash. Please see table Table 7-9 of the DLPC3435 datasheet. I don't see how I can update the firmware over i2c either.

Hello Kristina,

While we look into this issue and get back to you in couple of days. Meanwhile, if board is not programmed and working, have you tried just renaming the extension in the binary image and using the tool? We don't if this will work

Hello Kristina,

Thank you for your patience. I understand that I2C lines are exposed in you board . The best and most reliable option to program flash is use USB2ANY adapter to connect the PC to I2C bus on board. You can use the DLPLC-GUI to program the flash.

This GUI is for Light control Chipset but it will also work for the display chipset (DLPC3405, DLP2010).
