    Hello Richard,

    For this DMD the hinge axis is diagonal so that input light should be centered along a diagonal axis (315° azimuth) that is 24° from the normal (66° elevation) as shown in this diagram from the data sheet:

    If the input light is centered as listed above, then the output light should be centered on the DMD array normal (vertical).  The "off" state light in this configuration would exit at 48° from the normal (42° elevation) toward the lower right corner in the picture (135° azimuth).  So it is not to one particular side.
