DLPC3435: Gamma setting via firmware

Hi there,

I've been working with a custom setup, using the DLPC3435 driver. We need our setup to display images without any gamma profile. However I haven't found any documentation that hints that this might be possible.

Running some tests, we can confirm there is a gamma curve present.

Can you confirm that the default firmware has a non-linear gamma profile?

If so, is there any way to remove the Gamma in firmware?

The projector is used in a 3D scanner, and calibrating for this additional property adds attional steps for our users, and reduces accuracy overall.

Hi Drew,

The default firmware should have a linear gamma curve.

Can you say what version of firmware you are using? How have you deduced that there is a non-linear gamma profile?

Hi Austin,
I am using the firmware provided "FWSel_DLPC3430_DLPA2005_pm1_i2c0x36_v7p4p3.img", so i guess version 7?
It was then customized to have a boot screen using your GUI app.

Thank you for confirming that the firmware has a linear curve. We are testing using an uncalibrated camera and sequences of projected greys. I know, not the best test, but it does show us that there is a curve. I did set the cameras to use a linear gamma profile, and wanted some confidence that the projector was doing the same. If you're positive that its linear, then I have to go looking deeper to find the culprit.

I have to correct a previous statement. There is a 2.2 power law profile in the firmware. You would like one that is completely linear?

Yes please. Some firmware with a power law of 1 (completely linear) would be the best.
How can I go about achieving this?
