DLPLCR4500EVM: Troubleshooting

Hi,

Good Day.

When connecting to the power supply (Output: +12V, 5.0 A), the projector DLPLCR4500EVM does not show any image. The fan is working, and a green LED on the board turns ON when the HDMI cable is connected. The graphic card (NVIDIA) recognizes the projector via HDMI. The DLPLCR4500GUI-4.4.1-windows software, which communicates to the DLP via USB, does not recognize the projector. The USB cable works fine when tested with other devices. The power supply works fine with other DLPLCR4500EVM that we have in the lab.

Do you have any suggestions on how to resolve the problem?

    Hello Ray,

    Welcome back to the E2E forum.

    The 4500 EVM has a typical current draw of around 6A with a 7A maximum. Is there a higher rated power supply that the client might use to test this EVM?

    Hi Ray Vincent,

    So from my understanding there is one working DLPLCR4500EVM that works with the power supply, the USB cable, and the GUI and is able to correctly display an image?

    Then there is a second DLPLCR4500EVM that has the fan working and the green LED status, but is not being recognized by the computer? 

    Can you look into the following:

    • Was the second DLPLCR4500EVM that is not working modified in any way or was the firmware updated or changed in any way?
    • Can you open device manager and see if there is some connectivity issue? There should be no special drivers needed but perhaps something is wrong with the port on the computer?
    • Do you have access to a scope?
    • Can you check the jumpers between both systems see if they match or are similar to the one showed here which is a working system in the TI lab.
