DLP4500: Issues when trying to apply display dimensions settings to flash image in video mode.

Part Number: DLP4500

Hello,

I am currently working with the LightCrafter DLP4500, and I encountered an issue when using it through the GUI. I am displaying an image from the flash memory, and I want to change the display dimensions. From what I understand, in the cropped area column, pixels per line and lines per frame are the dimensions of the image as it is stored in the flash, so obviously I cannot have higher resolution than 912x1140, whereas in the other column, the max values of these parameters (1280x800) is that of the display dimensions of the DMD, as mentioned in its documentation. So I understand that I cannot set a higher value that these. However, when I try to set a lower value, in order to display only a portion of the stored image, it does not work, and neither does it when changing the start pixel or start line parameter of either display or cropped area. I would like to have your help on solving this issue.

Respectfully

Romain

  • Hello Romain,

Welcome back to the E2E forums, we hope to assist you with your questions.

The display dimensions are only usable in video mode.

In the GUI, you can only set the display dimensions when you are in video mode and connected with an hdmi cable to the EVM.

  • Hello Alexander, thank you for answering. I am a bit confused, since what you highlighted in the DLP4500 user's guide clearly states that the Display Dimensions definition section apply to "all video input modes". This contradicts the fact it would only be usable when using an HDMI cable, which is only one out of four video input sources, along with internal test pattern, images from flash memory and FPD-link. Additionally, I forgot to mention that this works fine with the internal test pattern input source, and I remember that I could also do it for images from the flash memory at the beginning of my testing, but now it does not work. However I assume it should, since I am indeed using video mode, which supports displaying images fetched from flash memory.

  • Hello Romain,

My apologies I meant to convey the specific image I sent was for hdmi testing. Yes you are able to change the input configuration source select to be able to use different video input modes.

I only tested with hdmi and will have to double check the other modes. Does hdmi work for you and the other modes don't?

    Alex Chan

  • Hello Alexander, no problem, thank you for clearing the misunderstanding. In my case it works with both HDMI and internal test pattern as video input source, but not with flash memory images.

    Romain

  • Hello Romain,

I was able to duplicate the issue on my system in the lab. Will be looking into this issue more to try to debug.

    Thanks,

    Alex Chan

  • Hello Alexander, alright, please do tell me whenever you find the solution.

    Thanks,

    Romain

  • Hello Romain,
