DLP7000: Use with MWIR

Part Number: DLP7000

There appears to have been several requests over the years for a DMD device that extends past 2.7um out to 5um.  There is both experimental and theoretical applications of DMD's being used beyond 2.4um in the literature ( https://doi.org/10.1117/12.808990https://doi.org/10.1117/12.808329, https://doi.org/10.1117/12.2608767) and some of this research has even developed into a product for purchase (https://www.opticalsciences.com/dmd_irsp.html).  It is noted, however, that these systems only work after a complex process to replace the window of the DMD. Is a process to replace these windows available? Is there any DMD that is currently sold for MWIR?  Who could be contacted at Texas Instruments to discuss the development of a new DMD?

  • Hello Michael,

Thank you for your question! The team is looking into this and another member will be assisting you shortly.

  • Hello Michael,

Thank you for the information.  You are correct that there have been requests and some have indeed replaced the window.

Currently there are no DMDs sold for use in MWIR.  The diffraction efficiency is fairly low in MWIR and the window coatings and material are a challenge.  TI does not have a process that is recommended to replace the windows.

I will send you a friend invite to see if there is a business proposition that makes sense.
