[FAQ] New DLP Pico Boot and Hardware Diagnostic Tools

This thread will overview two new diagnostic tools to aide in system debugging, made by the DLP Pico Applications team.

1. Compatible Parts

  • Both tools are compatible with any DLPC342x, DLPC343x, DLPC347x controller.

2. Where to find these tools

  • As of the date of this post, each tool download can be found under any of the supported DLP controller chips on TI.com.

3. Tool Overviews

  • DLP Boot Diagnostic tool [link]
    • The DLP Boot Diagnostic tool is used to debug issues with a DLP system's boot process. This tool is a simple firmware image which allows users to configure a UART port to read the results of different system initialization tests. Please see the DLP Boot Diagnostic Tool User's Guide included with the download for more information on how to configure it properly. 

  • DLP Hardware Diagnostic tool [link]
    • The DLP Hardware Diagnostic tool is a windows executable program that allows the user to quickly configure the DLP system to test different Image Quality, DSI Setup or Light Control setup issues. The tool should only be used after the system has booted up properly and is flashed with up to date firmware. Please see the DLP Hardware Diagnostic tool User's Guide included with the download for more information on how to use properly.
