DLPLCR4500EVM: Corner of Image out of Focus at Short Focal Distances

Part Number: DLPLCR4500EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00293

Hello,

We've recently noticed blurring at the top left and top right corners of the projected image from the Lightcrafter 4500. We removed the the optics shims we installed as per the TIDA-00293 instructions but the problem persisted. It doesn't seem to happen, or at least is not noticeable, at longer projection distances.

Is this a known issue? Is there anything that can be done to improve the image quality?

Thanks,

Alex

  • Hi Alex,

I can't say that this is something we've noticed; it sounds like an alignment issue with the optics. Make sure your projection surface isn't curved or warped - obviously that would blur the image as well.

Unfortunately, I don't know if there is anything straightforward you'll be able to do to fix it. You may be able to take apart the optics, but I wouldn't recommend that because the risk of making it worse is high.
