DLPC120-Q1: DLPC120-Q1

Part Number: DLPC120-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3030-Q1, DLP3030Q1EVM, DLP3030PGUQ1EVM, DLP-HUD-VOLUME-CALC, DLP-HUD-LUMEN-CALC

I'm interested in DLPC120-Q1 for Head Up Display (HUD) applications. If I buy this device, will I need an optical design to use DLPC120-Q1? Or, is DMD Device enough? You can examine picture of system what is I try to say "design". This system has a fold mirror.

Also, is DLPC120-Q1 programmable device, which programming ?

  • Hello!

The DLPC120-Q1 is part of a full chipset. On its own, it is only a controller, designed to format incoming video data to be properly displayed on the DMD. When paired with the DLP3030-Q1 and an LED driver, it can form the electronics portion of a HUD system. How much you will need pre-assembled depends on how much design and manufacturing you are interested in.

If you want to design your own PGU, I suggest our complete electronics subsystem EVM kit, DLP3030Q1EVM. This includes the DLP3030-Q1 DMD, the DLPC120-Q1 controller, LED driver, and control software.

If you only want to design the HUD optics, including the fold mirror, powered aspherical mirror, and other components, I suggest the full PGU EVM, DLP3030PGUQ1EVM. This includes the electronics for display and control, the projector optics, LEDs, and diffuser screen.

If you need a quick evaluation of DLP technology as a full system, we also have a combiner HUD EVM, DLP3030CHUDQ1EVM.

We also have the following calculators available to help estimate the lumens required out of the projector and the estimated volume of the final HUD system, based on standard input parameters. Please see DLP-HUD-LUMEN-CALC and DLP-HUD-VOLUME-CALC to find the calculators.

Also see the following reference design for full schematics and layout files, as well as a more comprehensive walkthrough of the HUD design process. www.ti.com/.../TIDA-080004
