DLP5530-Q1: Difference between the DLP553X-Q1 DMDs

Hi DLP Experts,

We need your assistance on this as our customer needs more information before choosing their DMD. We have studied the datasheets of DLP5534-Q1, DLP5531-Q1,DLP5530-Q1 and apparently the mirrors have all the same characteristics. We haven't found any technical difference between them. It says that each of them has their own intended applications such that DLP5534-Q1 for transparent window display, DLP5531-Q1 for headlight systems or DLP5530-Q1 for HUD. However we need additional understanding on where the devices technically vary from each other. Can you please give us a detailed explanation about their technical differences? Thank you in advance.

    Hi Jejomar,

    You are correct that the mirror array and electrical interface is the same between the three devices. However, we have performed different testing and qualification for the three devices for the three different applications. The three applications have different requirements for wavelength of light used and optical power distributed over the array. The power, light distribution, and wavelength we support are noted in the thermal sections of the three datasheets as well as the recommended operating conditions. In addition different parts have different image performance specifications which will be relevant to the target application. If you can let me know the target application and application requirements I’d be happy to help you determine which DMD would be suitable.

    Hello Jake,

    with reference to the difference between DLP-553X-Q1 models mentioned above, I take this opportunity to ask you which model you recommend to develop high brightness FULL COLOR laser projector using sequentially activated laser beams (RGB).

    From the functional diagram of DLP5531-Q1 & DLP5534-Q1, both seem to work with 1 control light source (without the possibility of using it for the color application), while instead the DLP5530-Q1 model has separately the control of 3 light sources (RGB - LED / Laser).

    Is it correct?

    We plan to use an RGB laser source with a power up to 10 W (total RGB power).

    Please let me know the correct DMD choice and the electronic evaluation you recommend.
