DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2: How to disable LED power of 4710EVM

Hello, TI

I use a 4710EVM as reference to design my next product.

I would like to disable LED power of the EVM because I'm going to use LD power in my product instead.

The 4710EVM seems to use DLPA3000 LED Driver IC, so I've checked its datasheet.

The datasheet says that ILLUM_EN bit should be set to 0 to disable LED power and Setting can be done through register 0x01.

I've tried to find the way to access to the register but I haven't find it out after all…

Could you tell me how to access and change it?

Welcome to the E2E forums and thanks for your interest in our DLP technology.

During typical use, registers for the PMIC (DLPA3000) are not accessed directly, but instead indirectly by sending I2C commands to the DLP controller(in this case, the DLPC3439).

I2C commands for the DLPC3439 (including LED driver control) can be found in the DLPC3439 Programmer's Guide: (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/dlpu035/dlpu035.pdf)

This should give you the control you are looking for. What sort of system setup are you looking to implement by disabling the LEDs?

I understood.

I will check the control of DLPC3439 using a I2C protocol emulator like this.

As for your question,

I'm going to use the Laser Diode because it's more likely to get illuminance than LED.

I would adopt DLPC3440 which has LD control signals, instead of DLPC3439 in actual product design.

I guess DLPC3440 can access the PMIC registers as well as DLPC3439 does.

Is my understanding correct?

Your understanding is correct. The DLPC3440 can access the PMIC register similar to DLP3439.

The 4710EVM doesn't use DLPA3000. it uses DLPA3005.
