DLP3010EVM-LC: DLP3010EVM is broken?

Hi,

I was using DLP3010EVM (not GEN2).
One day, the LED no longer projected even when the power was turned on and the projector SW was turned on.
I used GUI(ver2.1.0.7), an error message appears on the screen and nothing can be done.
In addition, I tried to start another GUI and tried to write the img file, but this message also appeared and I could not execute it (EVM selected 3010, but why it is displayed as 2010 img file).
The firmware was downloaded from the following.
www.ti.com/.../DLP3010EVM-LC
How canI restore it?

Hi,

additional information.
I could be updated the firmware using the following procedure.
1. Turn on the EVM
2.Projector SW is OFF
3.Launch GUI ver2.1.0.7
4.firmware update

After that, I turned on the EVM again and the Projector SW was turned on, but the D1 (HOST_IRQ) LED did not go off.
When I click [get] on the information screen, I get an error message like the first picture of the my previous post.

Hello Masa,

Could you please confirm that you are using the DLP3010EVM-LC? I just want to make sure you weren't using the DLPDLCR3010EVM which is our G1 display EVM. Could you also try your update procedure again in the regular GUI mode (i.e. not the advanced mode).

Hi Kyle

I am definitely using DLP3010EVM-LC. Attach a photo of EVM.

I am doing the update procedure of my previous post without being in the advanced mode of GUI (ver2.1.0.7).
Conversely, I don't know how to update the flash in advanced mode.

Hi Masa,

Which GUI you are using, you should use the DLP3010LC GUI.

Please upload firmware using this GUI, after successful upload if EVM is not working, then you need to debug the EVM.

I can help you with that... first check the PROJ_ON signal is coming or not. based on that we will debug further...

I am updating the firmware using the DLP3010LC GUI.
I check about the PROJ_ON signal. Then post the result.

Hi Navneet,

I checked the PROJ_ON.
When SW1 was turned on, the PROJ_ON signal became "H"level, and PROJ_ON LED was turned on.
Then the RESETZ LED was turned off, but the HOST_IRQ LED was not turned off.
Nothing is projected from the EVM.
what should I do?

Hi Masa,

If PROJ_ON is high that means DLPA should enable the power supplies for DLPC and DMD.

Can you check the voltage for signals VBIAS, VOFS, VRST Also check the 1.1V, 1.8V and 2.5V supply.

Hi Navneet,

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this reply, but I am facing a similar problem. If this isn't the right place, apologies.

We are using 2 DLPC3439, 1DLPA3005 and a DMP to generate projection, but in 1 PCB, the DMD voltages - VBIAS, VOFS, VRST aren't getting generated. 1.1V, 1.8V and 2.5V are getting generated. I have checked about 80-90% of the pins of DLPA3005 and the voltages are fine. I am fairly new to debugging hardware. Any pointers on how I could find out/resolve the issue?

Hi Navneet,

I checked each voltage that you indicated.
VRST = 0.5V, VOFS = 4.4V, VBIAS = 4.4V, I think which was not a normal voltage.
1.1V, 1.8V and 2.5V were normal.
From this result, is this EVM broken?

Hi Masa,

We know that EVM is bot working, but still we don't know the cause. I am trying to look what causes this issue.

By looking at the DMD voltages, it looks DLPC is not booting up correctly and interrupting somehow in between.

which firmware version are you using ? Can you send the state of D8, D9, D10,D11 led when you turn on the EVM. Are you able to communicate through GUI?

Hi Navneet,

EVM firmware verison is 7.3.2.
After starting the GUI, turn on the EVM and set SW to PROJ_ON.
When I click GET from the GUI information screen, the screen capture error message my first posted appears. Communication is not possible. At this time, D8 and D9 turn on for a moment but then turn off. D10 and D11 kept turn off.

Can you try reprogram the MSP430 firmware. you can find the firmware on same page where you get the evm firmware.
