DLPA3005: VLED_ANODE Voltage

I have got a question about the LED driving capability of DLPA3000 from our customer.

Would you please give any answer to this question?

 

[Question]

This question is related with the voltage specification of VLED_ANODE.

It is written in the DLPA3005 datasheet that the recommended maximum value is 6.3V.

(P8 : ILLUM_A, B_FB of 6.3 Recommended Operating Conditions

 P12 : VLED_ANODE)

But it is written that the absolute maximum is 20V

(P7 : ILLUM_A, B_FB of 6.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings)

 

They basically want to use this pin with more than 6.3 V (for example 10V). Is it possible to input more than 6.3V to this pin?

Or, if there is any concern, would you please give us any comment what kind of phenomenon could happen?

 

[Background of this question]

They originally consider to use OSRAM LED, LE CG P1A series (This part number is green but they also use Red and Blue).

But OSRAM is saying that LE CG P1A may be discontinued and should be switched to an alternative device, LE CG P1A"W" series.

 

LEDs are connected in parallel in P1A but LEDs are connected in series in P1AW.

Thus, Vf value of P1AW is 2x of P1A. Then, they need to input more than 6.3V to the ILLUM_A,B_FB pin and want to know whether they can use P1AW with DLPA3005 or not.

 

It would be helpful if you can give any comment or advice to this situation.
