I finally bit the bullet and ordered the chip.. It appears the DMD TI sent me is defective. When installed the machine will not boot up properly or display any image (lasers not firing). When I put the old chip back in, the machine powers up normally with image (lasers firing). See attached picture below. The new chip TI sent me is on top the old chip that still works is bottom. 

Please advise how to get a replacement chip or refund. DLP660TEAAFYG

    Let me preface this with a reminder that these E2E forums are not meant to be a replacement for 3rd party manufacturer support. This is a Dell system and they will know how to support their systems much more than we can. With that I highly recommend that you also contact Dell for additional support regarding their system.

    However I will still try to help.

    I can confirm that the listed TI PNs are correct. (2715-7x3xP)
    The DMD swap should have worked as they are the same part.

    One possible reason is that if there is an issue with the fitment, then the system will not turn on. First thing i would recommend is to verify there isn't any gaps between the DMD and the socket before you lock down the DMD. Also verify there are no issues with any of the Pins of the new DMD.

    In the meantime I will investigate more into other possible root causes for this issue.

    I apologize, as you can imagine it was a pretty disappointing experience.

    New DMD looks fine, pins perfect. I re-seated and re-installed the new chip twice with no success. The system does turn on, makes the initial beep, but never fires up the lasers.. Also, Twice I put the old chip back and the machine fires right up - the new one, not so much. Done this type of thing 100's of times being a PC maintenance, repair & troubleshooting engineer for 30 years. so not my first rodeo 

    Dell support is useless, I spoke with their lead engineer on these units and they are so complicated that even they don't bother fixing them - when one goes bad under warranty they just ship out a new one. There must be a projector graveyard at the Dell plant lol

    I did read on a forum that sometimes TI works directly with DELL to make minor custom modifications/tweaks to chips. Not sure if that's the case here. The original working chip is 3 years old.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.. Best, Mike
