DS90UB948-Q1: I2S SDOUT and TDM mode

Experts,

The scenario is SOC->941->948-> Audio device. 948 works at master mode and 948 MCLK, I2S_CLK, I2S_WC, I2S_DA is used to control I2S receiver, correct? Then when should we use SDOUT pin?

And can 948 support TDM through I2S channel? and How?

Hi Ryan,

For I2S master mode, you should leave SDOUT unconnected as it is used for AUX audio instead of I2S.

948 cannot support TDM through I2S channel.

Great thanks for feedback.

And for 948 master mode, I can support 4 channel I2S with I2S_DA/B/C/D data out to connect with 4 I2S slave device, right?

And for 941 slave mode, I can support 4 channel I2S with I2S_DA/B/C/D data in to connect with SoC, right?

Hi Ryan,

The I2S_DA/B/C/D are different channels. Since you can only supply a single clock, you can only connect to one I2S slave device but with multiple audio channels.

That's possible, but you would need to be careful on separating and routing the clock lines to ensure the signal is not distorted.
