DS90UB954-Q1: DS90UB954-Q1

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi,

This question is regarding 4k 60FPS capability over FPD Link.(Any SerDes ICs)

All I see in the datasheets of SerDes ICs are mentioning of 2MP sensor @ 60FPS.

With the aggregate BW available on few ICs (4.2Gbps) I can see that it can easily transmit 4K, 10bit videos @ 60FPs.

But I don't see anywhere this being mentioned.

Can you let us know whether 4K @60FPS would be supported or not- Has this ever been tested on any platform?

  • Hi Mandan,

The publically available SER/DES devices available for viewing on the TI website only support up to around 3.3Gbps Video Payload rates. And when I ran your sensor information in some internal calculator tools, I saw that this type of sensor exceeds the CSI Line Rate capabilities of the devices available on the website.

Could you let me know the CSI rate of your imager? And also, could you fill-in the following information, so that I can get a more accurate calculation:

    1. Horizontal resolution = ?
    2. Vertical resolution = ?
    3. Frame rate = 60 Hz
    4. Bits per pixel (BPP) = 10 bits
    5. Horizontal blanking = ?
    6. Vertical blanking = ?
    7. Overhead Percentage = ? (e.g. 25%)

    Best,

    Justin Phan

  • Hi Justin,
    Please see below information-

    1. Horizontal resolution = 3968
    2. Vertical resolution = 1080
    3. Frame rate = 60 Hz
    4. Bits per pixel (BPP) = 10 bits
    5. Horizontal blanking = 80
    6. Vertical blanking = 139

I have given you the standard timing of CVT-RBv2 while we are still on camera finalization step.

We would still require a 25% payload margin above this calculated BW {(3968+80)*(1080+139)*10*60} = 2,960,707,200*1.25 = 3,700,884,000 bps.

    Thanks!

    Mandan

  • Hi Justin,

    One small correction here-

    1. Vertical resolution = 2160

In this case I can see that the required BW will somewhat be closer to 6Gbps with 10bit pixel size- should this be a concern for me?

  • Hi Mandan,

There are some materials that I would like to check. I will get back to you with a response in 1 or 2 days.

    Best,

    Justin Phan

  • Hi Mandan,

Based on the values you've previously given me, the MIPI CSI-2 Video Payload Rate of your sensor would be about 6.428 Gbps.

I am currently looking for other potential solutions, but is it possible for your imager specs to be changed a bit, such that the Video Payload Rate meets the supported payload rates?

    Best,

    Justin Phan

  • Hi Justin,

    Thanks for the update!

Can you please also let me know the full part numbers of them (both serializer and deserializer)  preferable in automotive grade?

Also, would you be able to direct me to any new recommended product catalogues in automotive domain?

    Thanks!

    Mandan

  • Hi Mandan,

I edited my previous responses a bit, since I am unable to discuss NDA devices which support 6Gbps video payload rates and above on an external forum thread.

Please contact your local TI Sales Representative if you would like to discuss roadmap solutions, beyond what is publicly available on the TI website.

    Best,

    Justin Phan
