DS90UB948-Q1: questions about 0x03 bit 6

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Hi team,

customer use 947+948 in their application.

they found some times they can't lock. if the set the 948 reg 0x03 bit 6 to 0 to disable Back Channel CRC Generator, they can lock and work correctly.

we have questions are that:

1, what's the meaning of Back Channel CRC Generator  and what is it uses for ?

2. why set reg 0x03 bit 6 to 0,  they can lock?

3. in additional, customer found the datasheet they used is different with d/s on ti.com about reg 0x03 bit 6 description, see the followings:

while the d/s on ti.com is reverse as following:

which one is correct? and how to configure this bit? if disable this bit, any potential problems

thank you

  • Hi Betty,

Let me look into it and I will try to get back to you by the end of this week.

  • Hi Betty,

CRC or Cyclic Redundancy Check is a method of detecting errors in the communication channel. In order for this feature to operate correctly, both the CRC generator in 948 side and the CRC checker in the 947 have to be enabled. So, could you check that 947 Back-channel CRC checker is enabled (Address = 0x03[7]) is enabled when 948 Back-channel CRC generator is ON?

Regarding the documentation, the latest version on ti.com should be the most up to date. So, we should use that.
