Part Number: DP83TD510E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB-2-MDIO
Hi All,
I'm developing a media converter from 10BASE-T, to 10BASE-T1L and back again. As part of this link, there are two DP83TD510E phys connected, currently over a very short pair of wires. I'm currently getting some behaviour I don't understand from the Phys.
Specifically, the LEDs. I was expecting in the event of a good link being established, that either LED1 (Strap 5 on RX_DV is high) or LED2 would be permanently lit, and LED0 would blink with activity. What I'm seeing is that on both phys only led 0 blinks and they do so in sync with each other. I'm interpreting this as some measure of connectivity between the two Phys, but perhaps the data is corrupted? Should I not expect one of LED1/2 to be solid on? If I connect the 10BASE-T Phys with RJ45s to computers, I see the activity light of all 4 Phys blink as close to synchronously as my eye can tell when I attempt to ping from one machine to another.
Also oddly, if I disconnect power from one PHY, but leave the connection, the other phy lights LEDs 0 and 1 solidly. This also occurs for a moment if I reset one phy. I dont understand why LED1 is coming on when no link can be established.
My design is a copy of the evaluation board. I've checked that the signals from one phy propagate nicely to the other's receive inputs.
Happy to give more detail where relevant, thanks in advance for the help.
