Hi,
Part numbers:-TPD4E001DBVR & TPD4E001RDBVR
Why would the package be the same DBV for both parts if the Pin Configuration and Functions are different.
Would this be an error on the Datasheet?

Lyndsey

Hi Lyndsey,
Notice that the difference between those part numbers is the additional "R" which signifies a "reverse" pin configuration. Both parts will come in the same DBV package, and the "R" part will have the reverse configuration. See this post for details: https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1020313/tpd4e001-tpd4e001r/3770552#3770552

Hi Matt,
We now understand what the difference are, but where in the Datasheet does it show "R" which signifies a "reverse" pin configuration.
The confusion we want to feed back to improve the datasheet going forward is:
In the PACKAGE OPTION ADDENDUM for both TPD4E001DBVR & TPD4E001RDBVR the "package drawing" states DBV.
If you look at a DBV within the Pin Configuration and Functions page it leads you to believe they are also the same.
As the pin-outs are different should there not be something highlighted on the PACKAGE OPTION ADDENDUM that these 2 parts ARE different.

Lyndsey
Hi Lyndsey,
The "R" pin configuration is shown on page 4 of the datasheet in the "Pin Configuration and Functions" section. There is a separate diagram for it, and there is also a separate column in the "Pin Functions" table differentiating it from the others. However, I do agree that there should be something in there explicitly stating that it is the reverse pinout of the original design.
In regards to the "Package Option Addendum" section, this section's main purpose is to list out all the orderable part numbers (OPN) for this device. TPD4E001DBVR and TPD4E001RDBVR come in the exact same package (DBV), but pins 2 and 5 have different functions. Therefore, they are listed as two different OPNs. This section is standard across all TI datasheets and is not used to capture the pinout info, just OPNs and packaging information. That info is stated in the "Pin Configuration and Functions" section.
