TPS65988: I2C as master to communicate the Temperature sensor IC

Dear Sir,

We are going to use the TPS65988 PD Controller and connecting the TMP102 temperature sensor on the I2C interface.

We wants to configure the PD Controller as a master and temperature sensor as a slave. And wants to control the PD controller power switch based on the temperature threshold value read from the temperature sensor IC.

Please let me know, shall it possible to control the PD Controller power switch on the temperature threshold? How can we add the temperature sensor driver support to the PD controller?

PD controller is a closed device and doesn't support External Temperature sensor. There is internal Temperature sense that PD controller uses internally. If there is an additional microcontroller then it can use I2C interface to turn off internal switch.

We want to measure the temperature of the other device and want to take decision on it. We are not going to use the MCU in our system. Shall it possible the read the temperature from the temperature sensor IC and take decision to on/off the internal power switch?

Hello Kiran,

As Ghouse mentioned in the previous post, TPS65988 is a fixed function PD controller and therefore it cannnot meet this customer requirement. For thermal protection PD controller has sensor inside the silicon.
