TPS25750: BQ25792 + TPS25750D Schematic Review

Part Number: TPS25750
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01, , USB2ANY, BQ25792

Hello,

We have created a schematic based on the USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01. With added shipFET and reverse polarity protection.

This will be for testing the features we need and a reference design for our future projects.

Would it be possible to have a review of this circuit in case of obvious error?

Many thanks,

Will.

  • Will,

I will review this for the TPS25750 and then re-assign the thread to my colleague who supports the TPS25792.

  • Will,

    1.  I suggest that you change I2CM_IRQ to be pulled high by a 10K resistor.  This will prevent and negative interactions with the firmware ISR loop.  If you leave it grounded, you will need to disable all IRQs in the advanced tab of the GUI.

    2.  Make sure that you have close proximity to the TPS25750D of the Capacitors on PPHV (+5V on your schematic)

    3.  Make sure that you have close proximity of the TPS25750D  Capacitor on VBUS (VBUS on your schematic)

The rest of you schematic looks very good.

You have added headers for both the USB2ANY and the AARDVARK on your system, but you also have the required signals on JP1.  You can remove the USB2ANY and the AARDVARK connector if they impact you solution size.  We frequently use 100 mil jumper wires between the connectors.

  • Hello,

My schematic review for the BQ25792 is as follows:

    1. The pullup for the QON pin is not needed. The datasheet says, "The pin contains an internal pull-up to maintain default high logic." Also, I would recommend tying the QON switch directly to GND without R21 and C42. This way you can ensure a logic low.

    2. Just wanted to confirm that JP2 selects between the 10k resistor or the thermistor?

    3. Your ILIM_HIZ divider actually is designed for 1.387 A of input current limit.

    4. Confirming 2s 1.5 MHz operation?

    5. Can you please explain your reverse polarity protection circuit? Has it been designed for the full battery operating range?

    6. I did not see a pullup for the INT pin?

    7. The BQ25792 has only 29 pins, what are pins 30-33?

    Thanks,

    Mike Emanuel
